After years of working in different trades involving sheet metal and working with family members who owned businesses engaged in such transactions, Wade H. Helms started his own business in 1955. His skills were significantly developed, and he quickly earned a reputation for being the best in areas ranging from installing galvanized or copper gutter systems to installing copper bay roofs. All respected him for his quality-oriented work, dependability, and straightforward personality. It wasn't long before all the better builders wouldn't let anyone other than Wade Helms Guttering their homes or take care of any of the areas of his expertise. Charlotte was not the vast metropolis it is now, but still a growing area. He worked with the best and few custom builders that built en masse then. To Wade Helms, his gutter systems and copper bay windows were the most crucial thing in any house he worked on. Quality work meant everything to him. These were his endowments to his son and grandson and every hired employee. These qualities are the very things that are instilled today.

After his son, Harvel, returned from military service, Wade Helms felt it was time to retire. On January 1, 1969, Harvel Helms became his father's business president. He embraced this business with all of his father's perfections but also with the energy of youth. A strong company already, Harvel was determined that it would grow, and grow it did! Harvel is credited with introducing seamless gutters and converting most builders to this practical and long-lasting new system.

Today, we celebrate over 50 years of stellar quality-oriented customer service in and around the Charlotte Metro area. Wade H. Helms Guttering, Inc. carries a reputation that is and remains untouched by any other gutter company. We can say that with pride but with humility. Our standards and practices are carried on today based upon the original principles inspired by Wade Helms long ago.
